Justice Scalia, Voting is NOT an Entitlement
For all of you who were in a cave yesterday, Justice Scalia threw down the gauntlet against the major pillar of the Voting Rights Act (VRA). Justice Scalia stated that the Congress didn't really want to renew the VRA in 2006 even though the Senate voted unanimously and the house was almost the same. Justice Scalia has decided that the Congress was bullied into keeping this most important legislation and that Congress can not be trusted. Justice Scalia with his statement has shown the country that he is either living in a bubble or has not been paying attention to the attempts to suppress the minority vote in not only the states and jurisdictions that are covered by Section 5 of the VRA, but also in new areas of the country that are now swing states in Federal elections.
